Comedian Kapil Sharma’s restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, in Surrey, Canada, was targeted by unidentified gunmen for the second time within a month. According to local reports, 9–10 shots were fired around 4:30 am on Thursday, of which at least six hit the cafe's walls and windows. No injuries were reported in the incident. Several residents called police control after hearing gunshots, prompting a swift response from Surrey law enforcement.
Following the incident, a screenshot of a social media post—purportedly from a Facebook account named Goldy Dhillon—surfaced on WhatsApp and other platforms. The post, written in Hindi, claimed responsibility for the attack and warned of another planned strike in Mumbai, where Sharma resides. “We had called up Kapil Sharma but it seems he did not hear the phone ring. We had to carry out this operation. If he still won't hear the ring, we will have to do our next operation soon in Mumbai,” the post reportedly said. Authorities are verifying the authenticity of the post.
Goldy Dhillon is believed to be a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to reports. The post also mentioned names of multiple gangsters, including “Jitender Gogi Maan Group, Kala Rana, Aarzoo Bishnoi, Subham Lonker, Hari Boxer, Sahil Duhan Petwad,” and ended with the line “RIP Ankit Badhu Sherewala.” However, police in Surrey have not officially commented on the claims or confirmed any links to organised crime networks as of now.
This marks the second reported shooting at Kap’s Cafe. On July 9, a gunman wearing a body camera had fired shots at the restaurant while recording the act. Germany-based Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Harjeet Singh Laddi had claimed responsibility for that incident, stating it was a response to remarks made on Sharma’s comedy show about Nihang Sikhs. Laddi posted on social media that he attempted to reach Sharma’s manager but received no response. A video of the first attack was also circulated online.
In a post on Instagram following the recent shooting, Kapil Sharma wrote: “Thank you to the Mayor of Surrey Brenda Locke and all the officials who visited Kaps’ Cafe to show their love and support, united we stand against violence, we are truly grateful.” The comedian had opened the Surrey-based cafe as his first international business venture. Both attacks remain under investigation by local authorities, with no arrests made yet. Indian intelligence agencies are also monitoring the situation.
